I need a solution

we are facing a strage issue with the vault client for outlook 2007

currently we are running  the following :

- Enterprise vault 9.0.5

- outlook 2007

- evault client 9.0.5 and 8.0.5

 

using Ev client v9 :

------------------------------

an outlook profile created with 2 mailboxes (personal  and shared mailbox)  >>> only search vault button is available

 

using Ev client v8 :

------------------------------

an outlook profile created with 2 mailboxes (personal  and shared mailbox)  >>> all buttons are available without any issue

 

Note : regardelss the version if a sperate profile is created for each mailbox , all buttons will be vailable without any issues

we have already checked http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH57070

and we are running out of ideas...  would you please help us fixing this?

I have Exchange 2007 and 2013 in a coexistence environment. I am ready to start migrating mailboxes. I am using tech48928 as a guide. I have completed all of the tasks including creating a system mailbox for my 2013 server. According to the doc there should be a system mailbox for each server that will be archived. Now I understand that my 2007 vault service account needs to be moved from 2007 to my 2013 server. I believe that my 2007 system mailbox and vault service account mailbox are one in the same. So, if I have to move the vault service account mailbox do I need to create a service a system account mailbox for 2007. I may be totally confused.

Hi

I have a customer that is using client side PST ingestion that seems to work except for a lack of shortcuts and folders in Outlook despite the PST policy having those options selected.  I have been asked how to have these shortcuts and folders appear for a PST file that has already been ingested. Is this possible? Assuming shortcuts and folders appear correctly for newly ingested PSTs what would happen if the problem PST was reingested?

    Need to know if i can set exclusive archiving policy for items in Conversation History.

 

We already have archiving policyb set for entire mailbox with of archive items post 30days.

 

Conversation History will introduced now, can i have seperate archiving policy for folder Conversation History need to set it for 1 day.

 

We have Exchange 2007 SP3 and EV 9.

With enterprise vault 11 and internet explorer 11, it is necessary to run internet explorer 11 in compatibility mode to view the ev buttons in outlook web access.

Maybe this question has already been answered before but would this issue be resolved in 11.1 so the ev buttons are again available when running internet explorer 11 in normal mode?

We now run enterprise vault 10 and are looking to upgrade to version 11 but maybe it is worth waiting for 11.1.

Here's the scenario:

Customer has Exchange 2007 and now a new 2010, which is in seperate AD forest, with appropriate trusts in place. EV has been journaling from 2007 for many years. The Journal mailboxes for 2007 are on 2007 Exchange servers. The Journal mailboxes for 2010 are on 2010 servers. We created a new AD account/mailbox to use as a 2010 Journal task account to target the 2010 Journal mailbox (configured the Logon tab in the Journal task to use this account). Ran both the powershell scripts for this account, and set appropriate permissions. When starting the journal task for 2010 journal mailbox it fails saying the appropriate throttling policy is not applied for the task account's mailbox.

Any ideas on the failure, or if this scenario should work, are welcome.

Hi,

we are currently in the beginning of our migration from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange 2010. We are already using Symantec EV for archiving mails. We are currently testing the migration of the users. Now we found, that when we migrate a user with an existing mail archive from Notes to Exchange, the Notes Migrator starts to migrate all the data, so it "extracts" the whole archive and migrate the complete data. But we want only to migrate the active data, and not the complete content of the archive. The migration from the mailarchives EV Notes to EV Exchange  will be done with Transvault.

Do you have any hint for me, how we can prevent the Notes Migrator from extracting the complete mail archive?

I upgrade Enterprise vault 9.03 to Enterprise vault 10sp4 after that Users unable to forward multiple archived item, I also read the article http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH50375 and it`s not working.

I also try to upgrde to Ev client  to version 11 without success

Hi,

I have the EVSVR verify run going on and the support said that it shouldn't be interupted but I can't find any reason from the guide as to why it shouldn't be paused, so does anyone know what will happen if I try pausing it?

Also was said that running the verification run wouldn't affect the normal ev tasks and I should be able to perform everything normally.

After we restored an older version of EV Storage DB there appear to be quite a lot indexes broken (which makes sense) but the problem is that if I try to run index synch or verification on those broken indexes it will queue the tasks but nothing will happen though I make the indexing task prosessing by choosing "run now"...

Any advices with these problems would be higly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

Our current setup of EV10 on Windows 2008 R2 allows us to access Vaulted emails via Outlook and OWA, only when connected to the work network, either by LAN/WAN or VPN.

However, we will soon be looking to add many Outlook clients from sites that will not have a direct network connection. Outlook will work OK via HTTPS traffic, but then that would mean Vault currently wont.

Is it possible to set Vault up to work like this, is it recommended and what can I read up on to see how to do it?

I am suprised that Vault does not work via OWA when external from the network as I thought that would effectively proxy the the Exchange servers and existing OWA, but it does not.

Any info you have would be great.

Hi,

Is it possible, maybe by combining policies, to have a setup that for certain users, where it would Vault all email as soon as it arrives (after Vault has had time to run) but it keeps the email in Exhcange / Outlook for say 90 days. Then on day 90, only then would it replace the email with a stub file?

I can't find an option to do this, so I do not think it would be possible. But, maybe someone has acheived something like this?

Hi Everyone,

I need help with a user who reported that his emails are automatically being moved to Enterprise Vault after a day.

All emails he receives in his Inbox are being archived the day after.

This is strange because we have a policy set for 30 days.

He also noted that when browsing in Archive Explorer, when he wants to move his email to his inbox, it hangs and takes a long time to process.

Hi People,

Can anyone here please assist me with the following error after successfully running the EV 11 installation, but somehow I cannot open the EV Configuration and Administration Console ?

This is a brand new install on blank Windows Server 2012 R2 OS and the new SQL Server 2012 SP1 database on separate server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an mailbox that no longer archive, I have tried the following:

• Disable and enable mailbox
• ZAP and enable mailbox

I think it doesn't archive it because of this error:

Hi Everyone,

I am hoping somebody in the community can help me understand what the rules are that are applied when quota based archiving only is enabled. From what i have read on the support boards & the tech docs I am unable to find a concrete answer that i can share with people within my organisation. At best from what i can find when a Exchange quota is breached Enterprise Vault will attempt to reduce the mailbox size any way possible to bring the mailbox under its quota. In doing so it may choose an item from a week ago or it may choose an item from yesterday.

Is there anyone out there who has a firm grasp on the algorithm/method used that can explain in further detail?

The best document i have found to date is below, however it still does not provide me with the definite answer i need.

Hi,

EV 11 installed, when opening the search window via explorer, I browsed to a specific folder.
Right clicked a column, pressed customize - and in the property name added a wrong value.

From that moment, it cannot be edited at all, and when standing on that folder, I get an error.

meaning - I cannot remove this column at all now...

also, event appears in event viewer - Invalid access to memory location. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800703E6) (event number 41315, Index Query Server)

I guess this column property I have added is located somewhere - but how can I delete it?

I need a solution

is there any way to see the progress of expiry? when it might be done and such?

i know i can run dtrace but that shows it just running, i piped part of it to a log to see if i can find any indocation but didnt show much.

does it process the archives in numberical order? in order of indexes?
